School District No. 62 (Sooke) is excited to let students and families know that as of tomorrow (June 4) we will be re-opening our play structures at schools. The tape will come down and new signs will go up reminding students to wash their hands before and after enjoying the playgrounds, to adhere to physical distancing and to ‘keep their hands to themselves’. It’s also important to note that the play structures will not be sanitized by staff.
Opening the playgrounds is in line with municipalities and school districts across the province who are doing the same. It comes on the advice of the Provincial Health Officer who is encouraging outdoor play and activities as students return to in-class instruction.
Our play structures will be restricted to students during instructional hours, as they have always been. The District will remind the public of that through social media. It’s also important to note that the play structures will not be sanitized by staff.
We look forward to seeing happy faces on our playgrounds again.
