Dear HV families,
As we head into the weekend, here are a few items to note about planning for June 1st week.
Essential Service Worker Site Change (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)
Students who are registered for ESW care and have had arrangements approved will be on site Monday, Wednesday and Friday during regular school hours (8:30-2:30).
Students will return to classroom settings on Tuesday and Thursday.
Continuity of Remote Learning Opportunities (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)
Children who are not attending in-class instruction will have remote learning opportunities on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Teachers will not be available for remote learning on Tuesday and Thursday, as they will be providing in-class instruction to half of their classes.
Remote learning opportunities are reduced in June. There is an expectation for staff to check in with students weekly and provide approximately 2 ½ hours of student learning opportunities over the course of the week.
Partial Return to In-class Instruction on Tuesday/Thursday (optional)
Approximately 50% of HV students plan to return for in-class instruction Tuesdays/Thursdays.
Where possible, we plan to have students working with their usual teacher.
Where class sizes exceed 50% density, children will work with other familiar staff.
We have altered classrooms, utilized all spaces in the school, separated desks and seating, removed many materials and made arrangements needed, to facilitate small group learning and meet Health and Safety protocols.
Returning students will be met by their teachers at outside line ups for attendance. Teachers will be informing students if their line up spot has changed. This applies to Mr. Gadd, Mr. Cook and Mr. Johnson.
Parents and members of the public are not able to access the building.
We are not able to accommodate drop in students on Tuesday. Please let Mrs. Sjerven know if your plans have changed with regard to attendance so that we can make accommodations for Thursday.
Our play equipment is not accessible at this time. We ask that students arrive for bell time at 8:30 and leave at 2:30 dismissal time with families.
Returning students need to bring: backpack, water bottle, lunch and snacks, basic supplies (pencil bag or box, scissors, glue, colours, Kleenex) etc.
Please bring back any home reading, library books or classroom belongings.
Toys are to be left at home.
Please ensure children are dressed for the weather. We will be spending lots of time outside, rain or shine.
Teachers will inform students if there are other items to bring to school on Tuesday.
Please see the link below with Health and Safety information that is in alignment with our Safe Work Procedures and guidelines from public health.

Picking up Student Belongings
Thanks to families who were able to pick up student belongings at scheduled times.
If children are returning next week, they will be taking their belongings home with them.
There will be another drop in opportunity to pick up student belongings at these times:
Monday, June 1st – 8:30 – 10:30
Wednesday, June 3rd – 12:30 – 2:30
Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding as we navigate changes at school.
Enjoy a wonderful weekend!
Mrs. Karen Sjerven
